Detectives were also told that at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, someone who was not a police officer spotted a stolen vehicle that matched the description of that of the one stolen in the other sheds and reported the information to detectives.


Police say they searched the area and saw some stolen goods from other properties, and at about 4 a.m. Thursday, they caught up with a burglar who they believe to be the one who was spotted in the shed.


Detectives obtained a search warrant on Friday and began combing the nearby woods and parking lots for items. On Saturday morning, officers discovered several abandoned vehicles from previous burglaries, including a Dodge Charger at 1434 N. Lake Shore Blvd. They say this is a consistent pattern over the past few weeks.


Lough said detectives continue to be "satisfied that the thefts are coming from within the city," but don't have any suspects yet.
